Sundarpukhuri Milk Co-operative Society formed by the farmers of the greater Nazira area under technical guidance of Dr. J. Barman, Veterinary Officer, Nazira State Vety Dispensary is an example of the sucessful adoption of the AI programme. It has become a centre of livelihood for more than 245 BPL families contributing to rural economy with annual turnover above 1 crore. The vendors of the Society are able to give the service of doorstep delivery of milk to more than 1,000 esteemed customers at Nazira, Simaluguri and Sivasagar town. This is governed by a 9-member Executive Committee with representatives from all milk collection points. The Society has started a milk pasteurization plant of their own with a brand name 'KARENG'.
Nirmolia village near Sundarpukhuri, which did not have any dairy farm earlier, is today producing around 400 lts milk daily. Brihattar Nirmolia Prathamik Mahila Dugdha Utpadak Samabai Samiti is the second women milk cooperative society formed at Nirmolia Village under Nazira State Veterinary Dispensary.
