A model Fodder Farm was started in Sonapur, Kamrup Metropolitan District, by District Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Office, Kamrup, Assam.

Fodder was cultivated in 16 bighas of land and produced total 1536 quintals of green grass. The production of fodder in this fodder farm is a great help to the farmers during lean period and flood. Farmers awareness was generated for importance of cultivation of hybrid fodder. There is a good impact on neighboring farmers for taking up this activity of fodder cultivation. Farmers are coming forward and collected seeds and roots of fodder to develop fodder plot in their own field.
